Uno's Restaurant at Deep Creek Lake

On February 27th, over 900 "dunkers" were registered for the 12th Annual Deep Creek Dunk sponsored by the Maryland State Police to benefit Special Olympics Maryland. However, a funny thing happened on the way to the forum. Deep Creek Lake and Garrett County were hit by a blizzard the weekend of the 2010 Dunk. Nearly 40" of snow fell on Deep Creek from Thursday morning until early Saturday morning. Snow was accompanied by winds gusting over 50 MPH and drifting snow. The blizzard and frequent white-out conditions hampered efforts of "dunkers" to get to Western Maryland. Of the 900 registered "dunkers" - only around 100 "dunkers" were able to get to Deep Creek. Friday at noon, the Maryland State Police informed anxious travelers trying to get to the Dunk that - "if you are not already here, do not attempt the trip". Still, SOMD was able to honor those that got there and put the 100-or-so "dunkers" in the frigid waters of Deep Creek Lake Saturday at 2pm!

Ravens Roost #4 was represented by dunkers Mitch Hooper (the only CRRUDE team member that did not get there - WIMP!) and Frosty Volmer. Roost #43 was proudly represented by Tom Healand, Rob Ewin and Rob & Laurie's daughters Emily & Sarah. We added a new team member this year - Joseph Hands of Roost #88 in Paradise! Towel girls Annabananna, Tina Healand, and Laurie Ewin were on-hand to help-out!

The Council of Ravens Roosts Ultimate Dunk Extraordinares (CRRUDE) raised over $13,000 for SOMD. Woo hoo!!! The 900+ dunkers raised over $121,000 total! Woo hoo too!!!

Special notes: Rob was the highest fundraiser (online) of the 900+ dunkers raising over $5000! Mitch was the 4th-highest fundraiser with over $3000 raised. Frosty was close behind in 5th with over $2500 raised. Our thanks go out to all of our generous friends that helped support our cause and the Special Olympians of Maryland!
