News and Personal Thoughts:
Some asked me who I was pulling for. My response: Next Season. I am pulling for next season. With the carousel of hirings and firings going on, and the boring matchup for Sunday, I am really not inspired. In a step backwards (way backwards), the Ravens hired ex-Colts Head Coach Jim Caldwell to fill the vacant QB coach spot. What are they thinking? We can turn Flacco in to Manning? Meanwhile, our coaches are being picked over by last years failures, and our players are soon going to be scattering to the four winds. Best guess is that Cundiff will be left on the roster for the time being, only to fight for a roster spot coming training camp. Meanwhile, Cameron looks to be continuing in his present role, although he does need to be more creative for next season.
Orioles: Orioles look to sign ex-Cardinal Edwin Jackson, the best remaining RHP on the Free Agent Market, but rumors are that if he comes to Baltimore, he is only looking for a 1-year deal, as a stay of execution before testing the waters again next season. Doesn't he know that Baltimore is the place pitchers come to die, and that if he can't make it here, he can't make it anywhere?
Crystal Palace Baltimore F.C. (Home games at UMBC): Team to resume play in 2012 after completing construction of a downtown soccer facility. No status update lately.
Alouettes Nothing to report.
Blast: The Blast put upback to back home wins this weekend to extend their winning streak to 3 games. They have a mid-week skirmish with Norfolk this week, before hitting the road to face arch-enemy Milwuakee on Saturday night.
Chesapeake Bayhawks: Bayhawks hire Tony Resch as defensive coordinator. He has a very impressive resume, so check out his highlights on the website... The league selected Boca Raton, Florida as the host site for the 2012 All Star Game, to be played on Saturday, June 30.
Charm: The Philadelphia Passion will meet the Los Angeles Temptation on Sunday in the Lingerie Bowl in Las Vegas. Philly beat the Tampa Breeze 44-32 to advance, while LA took out the Las Vegas Sin, 27-18 to fill out the play bill. Both games were played in Ontario, Canada.
Capitals (See website for more details): The Caps broke a 2 game losing streak with a win against the Bruins, to move back in to a tie for first place in the Southeast division with Florida. Washington is in a 4 way tie for 6th place in the conference with Jersey and Toronto entering the mix.
Wizards (See website for more details): With a new head coach, the Wizards had won 2 of 3, before Chicago came to town to put the Wiz back in the loss column. Washington now has 4 wins, and, believe it or not, has moved OUT of last place in the division! Charlotte now owns the worst record in the NBA, with Detroit half a game behind them for the dubious honors. The Wizards are tied with New Orleans for third worst record in the NBA, up 2 spots from last week.
Mystics (See website for more details): The Mystics will open their season on May 19, at home against Chicago.
Charm City Rollers (See website for more details): The Charm City Roller Girls opened their 7th season on Saturday at Du Burns Arena.
What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, nevermind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won't know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
