News and Personal Thoughts:
Ravens: Preseason schedule has
been announced. Carolina, @washington, Giants and @St. Louis... Ravens still
shopping for a proven kicker (Personally, I think Cundiff should suffice)...
Steelers apparently are a team of women beaters as Santonio Holmes is being
sued... Yardbarker.com
featured an article on the early history of Baltimore Football. for assault.
Orioles: David Hernandez won the 5 starting pitching spot over Chris Tillman... SI's Joe Lemire listed Brian Matusz as one of the top 10 rookies to watch this season... Opening day is here soon. I'll be sitting in section 342 for the home opener.
Crystal Palace Baltimore F.C. (Home games at UMBC): Palace defeated the Harrisburg City Islanders 1-0, and had their match against DC United postponed indefinitely. Last up is a road game at Real Maryland on Thursday for the regular season start on Friday, April 16.
Alouettes: Nothing to report.
Blast: The Blast crashed in the playoffs, losing 22-14 in Monterrey and then dropping game 2 10-8 in overtime at home. Monterrey advances to play host Milwaukee for the championship.
Mariners (See website for more details): The Mariners (4-0) stopped the Richmond Raiders on 4th and inches at the goal line with 2 minutes left to maintain their unbeaten streak. They are off this week, and will resume play on Sunday, April 11 in New Jersey (0-3), starting a 3 game road trip that will also take them to Reading (2-2) and Fayetteville (1-1).
Capitals (See website for more details): The Caps (49-15-12) have been stumbling lately. Ever since they beat pittsburgh (44-25-7) in a shoot out, they have lost 3 straight. Up this week are games at Atlanta (34-31-12), at Columbus (32-32-13), home against Boston (35-29-12) and then on the road again to play the Penguins. The regular season ends on Sunday, April 11. The Caps have now clinched their division and the #1 seed in the conference.
Wizards (See website for more details): The Wizards (21-52) are now on a 16-game losing streak, with no hope anywhere to be found, even with the Nets in town for Sundays game, and the Warriors here on Tuesday night. They simply suck. This week they are at New Orleans (35-40), and then home for games against Chicago (35-39), New Jersey (10-64) and Golden State (21-52). They are still 13½ games ahead of the Nets in the Eastern Conference, and still ahead of Minnesota (14-60) of the Western Conference for worst overall records. Golden State has pulled even with the lizards. They will be put out of their misery after the April 14 game against Indiana that ends this poor excuse of a season.
What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, nevermind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won't know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
Although the NFL has not officially released their schedule for 2010, the matchups are predictable assuming a continuation of the current methodology.
