News and Personal Thoughts:
Ravens: News is light this week.
Highlights are that we have an overall favorable grade after analyzing our 2009
draft picks... Samari Rolle has been released, and will likely retire.
Orioles: We stink. This could be one of our worst season in recollection. No bull pen. No hitting. Nothing to get excited about. This was supposed to be the year where we had most of our pieces in place. If so, we are missing one huge piece. It's probably too early to state that, but just wait until the end of the month when we have 12 straight games against Boston and the yankees, followed by a road trip to the consensus best team in the central, Minnesota Twins. This season could get real ugly real fast. Over/Under for Trembley is May 15.
Crystal Palace Baltimore F.C. (Home games at UMBC): The regular season start on Friday, April 16 at home against the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
Alouettes: Nothing to report.
Blast: Nothing to report.
Mariners (See website for more
details): The Baltimore Mariners ran their record to 5-0 by defeating the New
Jersey Revolution (0-4) 61-27 behind a career best seven touchdown passes from
E.J. Nemeth and career highs in receptions (11) and receiving yards (134) by
Aaron Yarborough. Isaiah Grier also increased his league leading touchdown total
to 15 with two rushing scores and one touchdown reception.
The Mariners have
a 1 game league on Harrisburg (4-1) and will travel to 3rd place Reading (3-2)
on Saturday.
Capitals (See website for more details): The Caps (54-15-13) closed out the regular season with a shootout loss to Boston. Having already clinched the President's Cup, they will face the number 8 seeded Montreal Canadiens in the first round, with whom they split the regular season series.
Wizards (See website for more details): Isn't there a mercy rule? If there was, the Nets (12-69) would have been gone a lot earlier than the Wizards (25-56). The season will end merifully on Wednesday night, as they host the only slightly less pathetic Pacers (32-49).
What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, nevermind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won't know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
Although the NFL has not officially released their schedule for 2010, the matchups are predictable assuming a continuation of the current methodology.
