News and Personal Thoughts:
Ravens:
Nothing to report.
Orioles: It appears one bad relief efforts sends the O's in a tail spin. It caused our pathetic start to the season, and now we have lost 3 in a row after blowing a beautiful start by rookie Brian Matusz (7 shut out innings), but giving up an 8-run 9th innings on Saturday. Even with the bases loaded in the 9th inning, down by 1 to the worst teams in the American League, we could not deliver with Tejada at the plate.
Spider Watch: At 12 wins, we still need 8 more wins to catch the 1899 Cleveland Spiders (20-134). Stay tuned throughout the season, as I mark off various infamous goals. Current pace has us winning 50 games. May be by all star break we'll hit the 20 mark.
Crystal Palace Baltimore F.C. (Home games at UMBC): Crystal Palace (1-4-1) got in to the win column finally, with a shocking road victory against the Portland Timbers (3-1-2, 2nd place of the USL conference) by a 1-0 score. The weekend game in Austin didn't fare as well, losing 2-1 to the now, USL leading Aztex (4-1-1). The Palace will wrap up their 5 game road trip in Rochester (3-1-2, 3rd place USL) on Wednesday night. Before returning home to place host to the Portland Timbers on Saturday. The Palace are technically tied for fifth place (6 teams) in the NASL conference, tied with AC St. Louis (1-5-1), and only 1 point behind the Carolina RailHawks (1-2-2) and Miami FC Blues (0-0-5). USSF D-2 Pro League uses the standard scoring system of 3 points for a win, and 1 for a draw/tie.
Alouettes: The Als will open the preseason in Winnipeg on June 13th.
Blast: Nothing to report.
Mariners (See website for more details): The Baltimore Mariners (9-0) continued their domination of Fayetteville (2-7), winning the road match by a much closer 63-34 score. The Mariners regained their lost ½ lead in the standings over 2nd place Harrisburg (6-2). Wyoming (8-0) of the West Division is also still undefeated. The Mariners are off this weekend, and will travel to play the Richmond Raiders (4-5) on the 29th of this month.
Capitals (See website for more details): Nothing to report.
Wizards (See website for more details): I still have no comment.
What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, nevermind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won't know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
