Personal Thoughts:
Ravens: Last
Week: Dilfer retires. This Week: Favre refuses to retire. Forget about Favre in
the purple and black. The writers at the Sun are just grasping for articles
right now. We have too much invested in future options to bring his pricey arm
in to town.
Congrats to Poe for claiming the right of Fiercest NFL mascot.
Orioles: Can we limp to the all-star break? No, we couldn't even do that! Somebody better kick some a$$ during the 3 day break because the pitching ain't cutting it, and clutch hitting ain't happening. Mora left 11 men on base the other day. He was 0 for 5. Heck of a day to go 0-fer. We will return with a 11 game home stand against Detroit (47-47), Toronto (47-48) and then the Angels (57-38). We should be 4-2 before we get skunked by LA, but we really need to commence a 6 game winning streak before playing the Angels. After that series, we go straight to hell: 3 in the Bronx followed by a 6 game West Coast trip (Seattle and Anaheim). If we can regain our early season composure, we can still turn in a respectable season. However, my hopes are fading, unless we can turn this game of streaks back the other direction.
I boycotted watching the All-Star game on principle. It was the All Popularity game. Sherrill, our one representative did better for the AL than he had for our team lately, pitching 2+ scoreless innings when no one was watch during the 12th, 13th and 14th innings. Nick and Brian should have been there too!
Crystal Palace Baltimore F.C.: Crystal Palace (USL2 7-4-1, 22 points), no doubt disappointed by their failure to upset the MLS Revolution in US Cup play, dropped a league match to the 2nd place Cleveland City Stars (USL2 8-2-5, 29 points) by a score of 1-0. The Palace have sunk in to a 4th place tie with the Harrisburg City Islanders. Next up is a home match against the Western Mass Pioneers (5-7-5, 20 points), meaning that a loss on Friday will drop us even further in the standings. Apparently the Orioles summertime blues are contagious.
Alouettes: The Stallions (2-1) dropped their first game of the season, losing a home matchup against Calgary (2-1), 23-19. The Als only produced 1 TD, a 67 yard catch and run after a Calgary fumble in the first half, spotting them an 11-0 lead. Als QB Anthony Calvillo broke his pinky finger, and, along with his replacement, were effectively ineffective for the remainder of the game, as the Stampeders eventually took the lead and the game. Next up: A trip to the West Division leading Saskatchewan Roughriders (3-0).Blast: Still no news on the new league.
What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, nevermind. No one is reading this anyway, so I will just butcher things up however I please, and you won't know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
