News and Personal Thoughts:
Ravens: Sergio Kindle was not
with his senses when he fell down 2 flights of stairs and cracked his skull.
He'll be out for training camp, and probably longer... Ed Reed is jabbering
again, just ignore him... Cary Williams will be starting camp with an NFL
behavioral suspension over something that happened when he was with the
Titans... The NFL is looking in to ways of educating college players about
"Runners." Runners are "go betweens" that agents send out to entice and trap
college players in to signing with them. In recent years, these runners have
appeared in the form of attractive young ladies we become real friendly with the
players, and then dump them after they sign the contract... Terrence Cody signed
a 3 year contract just before entering camp, and then went on the PUP list after
he failed his conditioning test... Going in to training camp, there are 10
ravens on the PUP, which really seems high before the first whistle blows.
Orioles: The O's (31-68) still lag 3 games behind pittsburgh for the cherished title of 29th place in MLB with. Right now, they have lost 10 in a row against the Blue Jays this season, and there is not much hope to fix that.
Spider Watch: At 31 wins, we are still 5 games behind the modern MLB record of 36 win seasons by the 1916 (36-117) and 1919 (36-104) Philadelphia Athletics. The O's are at the same win total as the 1988 "worst ever" Orioles. Season win projections dropped 1 game this week to 51 wins.
Crystal Palace Baltimore F.C. (Home games at UMBC): Crystal Palace (5-9-4, 4th place NASL Conference) lost at home to AC. St. Louis (4-10-4, 5th place NASL) by a 1-0 score. The palace will host the Montreal Impact (6-7-5, 3rd place NASL) on Saturday.
Alouettes: The Als (3-1) scored 27 2nd half points to surge past Hamilton (1-3) by a 37-14 score. Next up, the Als will now host Toronto (3-1) on Thursday night, with whom they share the Eastern Division lead.
Blast: Nothing to Report.
Mariners (See website for more details): The Baltimore Mariners (16-0) completed their perfect season by defeating the visiting Wyoming Cavalry (14-2) by a 57-42 score. The Mariners, playing at home, dropped down 16-0 in the first quarter, but then battled back to take the lead, and the championship title.
Bayhawks: The Hawks (4-6) can't seem to get on tracking, losing this time to the Long Island Lizards (5-5). Next up, they will host the Chicago Machine (4-6) on Saturday night... The Iroquois National was forced to withdraw from the international tournament since they were unwilling to accept another countries (US) passport, seeing it is as an affront to their national heritage.
Charm: The Charm open the season on Friday, September 17th in Philadelphia against the Passion. Their first home game will be on Friday, October 1st against the Tampa Breeze.
Capitals (See website for more details): Former Capital Kevin Hatcher to be inducted in to the US Hockey Hall of Fame.
Wizards (See website for more details): Nothing to Report.
What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, nevermind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won't know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
