Personal Thoughts:
Ravens: Boller has been named
starter at New England. Big deal. No Surprise. Expect Boller to play minimally,
and then turn over the helm to the two future prospects. Everyone knows what
Boller can do. The first preseason game is always a dilemma, especially with a
new head coach, and plenty of young guys trying to prove themselves. It shall be
interesting. More next week.
Orioles: I think they can, I think they can, I think they can...
Crystal Palace Baltimore F.C.: Crystal Palace (USL2 11-6-1, 34 points), pulled out 3-2 and 3-0 home victories over Real Maryland Monarchs (3-15-1, 9) and Bermuda Hogges (4-11-2, 14), to momentarily slip into 3rd place, just ahead of Cleveland (9-3-5, 32).
Up next is the conclusion of the 3 game home stand, against the 9th place Bermuda Hogges on Wednesday, 6 August, before they conclude their regular season on Saturday, August 9th, with a road trip to visit the 2nd place Richmond Kickers (11-4-2, 35).
Alouettes: The "Stallions" (3-3) got back in the win column with a 40-33 home win over the Hamilton Ti-Cats (1-5). Almost 200 yards in special teams return yardage helped stake the Als to a 37-18 2nd half lead, as Kicker Damon Duvall booted 5 field goals, include 2 50+, one shy of his personal best of 6 FGs in a gain. The Als currently tied for first with the Toronto Argonauts, as they travel to play the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1-5) on Friday.Blast: (No change from last weeks report) Rumor has it that the new league has been formed, but not yet named. Also, rumor has it that a location for a new arena has been identified just west of downtown. This will allow the current facility to operate until the new building is opened in 2010 or 2011. However, Ed Hale, owner of the Blast, needs to figure out a new business plan, since the only way he has kept the team afloat is to build and sell advertising boards on the side of the current facility. This may not be an option with the new structure. Also to note is that the plans call for an 18,500 seat arena, which would be enticing to new and relocating NBA and NHL candidates. May be we can get back to the big leagues in a few other sports, but do we have the fans with the financial resources to support them?
What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, nevermind. No one is reading this anyway, so I will just butcher things up however I please, and you won't know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
