Personal Thoughts:
Ravens: First pre-season game made us look good! Our backups, scrubs, and "won't even make the team" guys all contributed to 500 yards of total offense. Gano is losing the kicking battle to Steve Hauschka. The Defense is the Defense and should be dominant again this year. We signed Cam Cameron favorite Cleo Lemon, but all eyes will remain on Flacco and Smith. TE's and WR did well, but the only thing that preseason really demonstrates is roster depth, and it looks like we might have some good depth. This will mean something in November and December when injuries start accumulating.

Orioles: I was there to see Pie hit for the cycle last Friday, but he will likely be gone at the end of the season. Huff is already gone, but might be back in the offseason when his current contract expires. However, I think they are more likely to push other younger alternatives, despite the need to replace his bat in the lineup. Competitiveness may not arrive until 2011.

Crystal Palace Baltimore F.C. (Home games at UMBC): The Palace finished the season with a loss to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds (6-10-4) by a 1-0 score. The landed them in a tie for 6th place with Western Mass, both at 6-9-5. The top 5 teams make the playoffs, with Charlotte hosting Real Maryland (Germantown) next Wednesday to start off the festivities.

Alouettes: The Als (6-1) crushed Winnipeg (2-5) on Saturday by a 39-12 score. Calvillo throw 3 consecutive passes for touchdowns in the first half, and added a 4th TD in the third quarter to lead the scoring. The Als will host Saskatchewan (4-3, tied for 1st in the Western Conference) on Friday night.

To follow up on the questions at last meeting, Robert Wetenhall is the current owner of the Montreal Alouettes. He reportedly saved the team from bankruptcy following the 1996 season, purchasing the team from Jim Speros, and has since built it into the most successful franchise in the CFL, with the most wins, first-place finishes, division championships and Grey Cup appearances in the last decade. (Summarized from Wikipedia)

With regards to team records and history, the Als website references the move from Baltimore to Montreal, but excludes all records from the years in Baltimore. Instead, they focus on the heritage of Alouette football in Montreal, including all previous instantiations of the team. Other web resources start the team history in 1996, the year they moved. The wikipedia page includes the 1994 and 1995 Grey Cup appearances when they represented Baltimore. I don't know if there is a clear an official CFL categorization of the data, but I would go with the Als website, where they left their statistics in Baltimore.

Blast: Training Camp starts the end of October.

Mariners: No new news.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, nevermind. No one is reading this anyway, so I will just butcher things up however I please, and you won't know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
