Personal Thoughts:
Ravens: The Jets bench proved to
be more formidable than the Redskins. The Ravens Defense came to play and
dominated the first half. The Offense didn't quite hold up in my opinion. Gave
up 4 sacks, less than 3 yards per rush, and only 175 yards passing. Of course,
they were playing the Raven's "reject" defense (Bart Scott, Jim Leonhard,
Marques Douglas, and Mike Kracalik). I think the kicker battle is all but
decided. They just need to state the obvious. Hauschka wins. They like Gano for
kickoffs, but Hauschka is the better field goal kicker.
In other news, Shaun
Hill (Maryland) was named starter for the San Francisco 49ers (my
adoptive favorite team since the colts went out of existence back in the 80s).
Unfortunately, he has a minor strain of his lower back, but is still scheduled
to start this weekend against the cowboys.
Orioles: Missed opportunities and bad baserunning will doom us yet. Still on target for 100 losses.
Crystal Palace Baltimore F.C. (Home games at UMBC): 4. Charlotte (10-5-7) took out the 5. Real Maryland (8-11-2, Germantown) 3-1 last Wednesday, and then upset 1. Wilmington (12-6-3) on Saturday. They will face 2. Richmond (12-3-6) this Saturday. Richmond advanced by defeating 3. Harrisburg (9-8-4) in overtime, also this past Saturday.
Alouettes: The Als (7-1) now have a 3 game lead on the next best record in the league, as they won again, this time defeating Saskatchewan (4-4) on Friday nightm 34-25. I actually caught a little of the game on cable Friday, and the Als had the Rough Riders out of sync. Calvillo had a relatively quiet game by his standards (170 yards, 2 TDs), while RB Avon Cobourne posted 101 yards on 19 rushes, and 20 yards on 3 catches and a TD. Next game is at BC (3-5, tied for 3rd in the West) on September 4.Blast: Training Camp starts the end of October.
Mariners: No new news.
What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, nevermind. No one is reading this anyway, so I will just butcher things up however I please, and you won't know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
