Personal Thoughts:
Ravens: It appears that if we
can't blow out a team, we can't win. We now travel to Cincinnati after we
pounded the Broncos. Really, we wore them down, so we could put up some big 2nd
half points. Special teams was final special (not special ed.), and the
Defensive Secondary held. However, that was primarily the result a hard, early
push by the defensive front line, which got in to Orton's head so much that he
was a afraid to step in to his passes. Once we neutralized him, the only thing
left was the pathetic refereeing (which essentially GAVE them their 7 points).
Once again, we tried to run the ball first, and that could have cost us if
things weren't clicking in the other two aspects of the game.
We already faced, and lost to Cincinnati once this season, but that game kind of caught us by surprise. No one expected the Bengals to be a contender. This time we will be ready for them, and we will win... as long as we don't leave them in the game long enough for Palmer to craft a last minute drive.
Orioles: Orioles international scouting director John Stockstill met Friday with free-agent Cuban left-hander Aroldis Chapman and his agent, Edwin Mejia, in New York. Chapman, 6 feet 4 and 179 pounds, defected from Cuba in July and has met with the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, among other teams. His fastball has been clocked at more than 100 mph.
Crystal Palace Baltimore F.C. (Home games at UMBC): No new news.
Alouettes: The Als (14-3) started warming up for the post season early with a 48-13 wins over visiting Winnipeg Blue Bombers (7-10). Although the regular season doesn't end until next Sunday, the Als posted double digit points in all 4 quarters in route to a leisurely win.
The Als will travel to Toronto (3-14) next Saturday to conclude the home-and-home series before enjoying the fist round buy.
Blast: After seven years and five championships with Baltimore’s indoor soccer franchise, former team captain PJ Wakefield has retired from the professional game. Wakefield, an All-League Second-Team selection in 2008 and 2009 and the 2003 Rookie of the Year, has joined the Baltimore County Police Department.
The Baltimore Blast will open their 2009-10 at home against the Rockford Rampage on Friday, November 13 at 1st Mariner Arena.
I am gauging interest in a field trip to see the Blast play this season. Please email me if you are interested, and I will negotiate the arrangements. Thanks.
Mariners (See website for more
details): Defensive Back Armar Watson who led the American Indoor Football
Association (AIFA) in interceptions last season, has amassed over 50 takeaways
in his career, and has been on four consecutive All-League teams, has been
re-signed by the Baltimore Mariners for the 2010 season.
Running Back Isaiah
“Zeke” Grier, who led the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) in rushing
in 2009 and helped capture the Baltimore Mariners first playoff berth in
franchise history, has been re-signed by the 1st Mariner Arena based team.
What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, nevermind. No one is reading this anyway, so I will just butcher things up however I please, and you won't know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
