Iggy's Raven's Report - 19 November 2009

Front line could not hold off the Browns rush as our running game, once again, failed to materialize. Flacco was in constant pressure and unable to find open receivers. The only bright spot was our defense, and that was largely due to the fact that the Browns have NO offense. A win is a win, but I now have more questions than answers as we head into back to back home games against the Colts and the Team That Must Not Be Named.

The Colts will beat us, and I hope it doesn't get ugly. We cannot contain good quarterbacks, and Manning is one of them. He will expose our secondary for what it is (weak), and we will not be able to stop the run. Our best bet is a shoot out, and we don't have the offense weapons to keep up with the Colts. I like my odds better against the TTMNBN the following weak.

Iggy's Predictions

• Week 10
  • Niners over Bears (+3½). Bears are weak, and SF is home in prime time. Niners win this. Next week, not looking so good, being on the road and all.
  • Atlanta over Carolina (+1½). Atlanta hasn't lost yet when favored. Now they have.
  • Tennessee over Buffalo (+6½), but take the points. Tennessee wins at home, but by less than a score. On second thought don't take the points. Is Tennessee Back?
  • Cincy (+7½) over Team that must not be named. Cincinnati is that good, and for once, we won't have softened up their opponent enough that the TTMNBN wins. Cincy is the new standard for the division.
  • Denver over wershington (+3½). Opening line was 6½, and I still would have gone with Denver. WTF?
  • Minnesota over Detroit (+16½), but take the points. It's hard to give up that many points, but the odds will make it close... real close. Missed the points by a measly ½
  • Jets over Jax (+6½), but take the points. Jets started out stronger, but have been showing weaknesses. No doubt Jets will win, but by how much? Jets are sliding early. It's going to be along remainder of the season for them.
  • Saints over Lambs (+13½). Saints toyed with Carolina last week by spotting them 14 points, but then again, they didn't cover the same number of points. St. Louis is worse than the Panthers though. I'm surprised they didn't cover.
  • Dolphins over Bucs (+9½). The battle of South Florida won't last very long. Tampa is showing some signs of life finally.
  • Oakland over KC (+1½). Heads Oakland, Tails KC.... it's Heads. Should this one have been called the Toilet bowl?
  • Dallas over Green Bay (+2½). Dallas has been pulling it together. This should be a good game. Where did that Green Bay come from... and that Dallas for that matter.
  • SD over Philly (+2½). If Philly doesn't blow out their opponents, they lose. They won't blow out SD. Philly didn't blow them out, so...
  • Zona over Seattle (+8½). Cards already dispensed with the hawks pretty easily in Seattle earlier this season. In the desert, it should be even easier. Another slow start, but the Cards recovered.
  • Indy over N'england (+2½). My rationale was very solid... go with the home team?!? Gutsy call to go for that.
  • BALTIMORE over Cleveland (+10½), but take the points. Prime time will have the brownies a little pumped, although the Ravens should be on a mission. Will a new kicker make a difference for us?
  • This Week: 10-5 Straight Up; 5-10 Against the Spread
  • Season: 94-50 Straight Up; 70-74 Against the Spread
• Week 11
  • Carolina over the Fins (+3½). Both teams are improving, so I went with the home team.
  • Indy (+½) over BALTIMORE. There is no way we can contain or put adequate pressure on Manning.
  • Giants over Atlanta (+6½). Giants need this to re-establish their position.
  • Jax over Buff (+8½), but take the points. Jags are 0-4 ATS when favored this season.
  • Lions over Browns (+3½). Browns have nothing leaft.
  • Saints over Tampa (+11½). Saints have failed to cover 3 times this season, and Tampa has shown signs of improvement.
  • TTMNBN over KC (+9½). TTMNBN is 3-6 ATS when favored this season, but they will whip KC.
  • Green Bay over SF (+6½), but take the points. SF is 4-0 ATS when they are the underdog so far this season, but the game is in Green Bay.
  • Minnesota over Seattle (+10½). Lock of the week (of course, I thought that about Denver/Washington last week)
  • Dallas over wershington (+11½), but take the points. Always a close matchup... too close for that line.
  • Zona over Lambs (+8½), but take the points. I'll probably be wrong again here, but I'm taking the points anyway.
  • Cincinnati over Oakland (+9½). My stats say Oakland will cover, my gut says not.
  • Pats over Jets (+10½), but take the points. Jets are in a tailspin, but usually play the Pats tought.
  • San Diego over Denver (+2½). May be this should be my lock of the week. Denver has been horrible lately.
  • Eagles over Bears (+3½). Chicago is 1-4 ATS as the dog. Eagles are horrible on the Road... actually they're just horribly inconsistent. You make the call here.
  • Tennessee (+4½) over Houston. Tennessee has been reborn.
