Personal Thoughts:
Ravens: Despite the officiating,
the Ravens actually won the game. I had reconciled myself half way through the
first half that the officials would find a way of taking the game away from us
again. It appeared that they planned to neutralize our kick return game with
penalties, but that couldn't even stop us from pulling out the miracle. As my
stealer friend put it, you just beat a 3rd string quarterback and a top notch
defense missing their star player. I responded by noting that there were only 3
columns in the standings: Wins, Losses and Ties. Everyone has injuries. It's
part of the game. Unfortunately, we may not be so lucky the next go-round
against them.
Offensive line did not protect Joe. Running game was sporadic, and racked up the yards late in the game after the other teams front line had worn down... and may have even given up after the OT INT. Defense did hold up for the most part, and came up with a big INT when we desperately needed a turnover. However, we could not get to Dixon. Where was the pass rush? We did stop Menthol most of the time, but he did break a few big runs. We need to find a way to get to the quarterback and force mistakes, and not hope for the rookie mistakes that won us the game.
Next up we play in Green Bay on Monday night, and Rodgers is on the NFL's patented "Protected Quarterback" list. Our future is in our hands, and this week is another MUST WIN game. I think we can, I think we can, I hope we can!
Orioles: No new news.
Crystal Palace Baltimore F.C. (Home games at UMBC): No new news.
Alouettes: For the 2nd time in 7 tries over the last 9 years, the Montreal Alouettes (17-3) are Grey Cup champions. The Als scored 17 unanswered points to close out the 4th quarter, as Damon Duval made a field goal as time expired to propel the Als to a 28-27 win over the Western Conference Champion Saskatchewan Roughriders (11-8-1). Duvall, who had just missed the game winning field goal, was award a 2nd chance when the Riders were flagged with too many men on the field. The Riders lead 17-3 at half time.
Blast: The Baltimore Blast (1-1) had the week off and return to play on December 13 in Monterrey (1-1).
I am gauging interest in a field trip to see the Blast play this season. So far, I have 3 people (self included) interested and we are discussing dates, so please email me if you are interested. Thanks.
Mariners (See website for more details): The Baltimore Mariners added some size to their defensive line with the addition of Akiel Russell, a 6’5”, 250 pound lineman who lettered in four seasons for the Delaware State Hornets. Russell will be making his professional debut with the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) club.
What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, nevermind. No one is reading this anyway, so I will just butcher things up however I please, and you won't know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
