Personal Thoughts:
Ravens: Embarrassment #2 avoided.
The Ravens did well cashing in on turnovers, and the missed field goal is not
Cundiff's fault. I have been nervous all season about the erratic long snapping,
and it finally bit us. Fortunately, this was not a game where the miss cost us
much more than field position. All in all, an decent performance all around,
save the kick return for a TD, but we are still not getting to their QB.
Penalties were down and takeaways were up, which are both needed if we want to
win.
Now, the tough part. We are back in control of our destiny. Win the next 2
games and we are in the playoffs! Problem is that we must now hit the road for
games in the City that must not be named and in the Black hole also known as
Oakland. First games first, we MUST win against our arch nemesis. As fans of
that other team keep pointing out that we only beat them in overtime and they
were missing their starting QB and some guy on defense. We can win, but we need
a better game plan than we have used up until now. We must come ready to play.
We must protect Joe. We must open holes for Ray. We must get open down field. We
must stop their QB at any cost. Unfortunately, I just don't have a warm fuzzy
feeling about this game.
Orioles: The
Orioles sign another corner infielder, Garret Atkins, formerly third baseman for
Colorado who can be a big help, if he can use this fresh start to resurrect his
average (.305 between 2006 and 2008, but .226 in 2009).
Crystal Palace
Baltimore F.C. (Home games at UMBC): No new news.
Alouettes: The Montreal
Alouettes have rewarded head coach Marc Trestman for his Grey Cup winning
campaign by extending his contract through the 2012 season.
Blast: The
Baltimore Blast (3-1) defeated the Philadelphia Kixx (1-4), 9-8 at home on
Friday night. Next game is Sunday night in Rockford to take on the Rampage
(3-1), with whom the Blast are tied with for first place, and are responsible
for our only loss thus far this season.
I am gauging interest in a field trip to see the Blast play this season. So
far, I have 3 people (self included) interested and we are discussing dates, so
please email me if you are interested. Bueller?
Mariners (See website for more
details): 2010 schedule released. The Mariners will open on on Saturday, March 6
at Harrisburg. Home opener will be Sunday, March 14 against New
Jersey.
Daniel Orlebar, who helped lead Appalachian State University to two
national titles and was an All-State performer while sparking Maryland’s DeMatha
Catholic High School to the area’s number one ranking, has signed with the
Baltimore Mariners for the 2010 season.
What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped?
Actually, nevermind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won't know
the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

|
- Week 15
- Indy over Jax (+2½). Colts may be resting several key players, but won't
resist the temptation to make it 14-0. Colts had to pull a
fast one to stay undefeated...
- Saints over Dallas (+7½), but take the points. Should be a great game,
and not a blow out. Saints weren't so lucky!
- RAVENS over Bears (+10½). Several Ravens players (TE's Heap, Smith) may
be rested for the following game. Let's hope it doesn't cost us. Turnovers were the key
- Zona over Lions (+11½). Cards should recover from that Monday Night
debacle in SF as they get healthy against the hapless Lions. Cards made it interesting and could be showing signs of an early
playoff exit.
- Falcons (+6½) over Jets. Jets are struggling and the Falcons are
underrated. Didn't believe me, did ya!
- Cleveland (+2½) over KC. Browns are better then their 2-10 record, but
not too much better. Did anyone notice?
- Houston over St. Louis (+9½), but take the points. Houston has had
problems covering the spread as a favorite so far this season. Houston still isn't covering
- Titans over Miami (+3½). Both teams have been doing well, and both might
not make the playoffs, especially if the Titans do win. Fins
stayed in long enough to cover.
- Pats over Bills (+6½). Despite that Pats being 1-5 on the road, this is
one road game that they should win. ...and they did
- Eagles over Niners (+8½), but take the points. Niners have their good
moments, and the Eagles have their bad. Expect and unexpectedly close game.
Niners were never in it, but I keep hoping.
- Packers (+1½) over TTMNBN. Come on? Why are the Packers underdogs in
this one? Packers should have won.
- Cincy (+6½) over San Diego. I am really not impressed with San Diego,
and, with a win, Cincincy clinches the division. 2 more
losses, and 2 more Ravens wins and we win the division! (won't
happen)
- Broncos over Oakland (+13½). Oakland will be starting Charlie Fry. Any
questions? The Raiders are starting to scare me.
- Seattle over Tampa (+7½). Seattle is 4-1 as the favorite, while Tampa is
4-9 as the dog. Who would you pick? So much for
statistics
- Minnesota over Panthers (+8½). Minnesota needs to win for the edge on
the other first round bye. Panthers came ready to
play
- Giants over Skins (+3½), but take the points. Skins have had 5 games
overturned on the points, while Minnesota is 3-5. Go Giants! Win by 3! Giants weren't fooling around
- This Week: 10-6 Straight Up; 9-7 Against the Spread
- Season: 151-73 Straight Up; 107-117 Against the Spread
- Week 16
- Titans over Chargers (+3½). Titans are coming on strong. Chargers might
cover this one, however.
- TTMNBN over RAVENS (+3½), but take the points. Steelers are 3-10 as
favorites against the spread, but I just don't see us pulling the upset.
- Falcons over Bills (+8½). Bills have nothing.
- Giants over Panthers (+7½), but take the points. Giants needs this win,
and the Panthers are putting up an admirable fight for respectability.
- Fins over Houston (+3½), but take the points. Home field should get them
the win, but not by much. Overtime?
- Pats over Jax (+7½). I almost recommended taking the points, but then I
noticed that this was in New England.
- Cincy over KC (+13½), but take the points. Bengals are 1-6 as the
favorite against the spread this season.
- Cleveland over Oakland (+3½), but take the points. Both teams have come
on strong towards the end of the season.
- Packers over Seattle (+13½). Seattle is 1-7 as the dog. Packers should
finish them early.
- Saints over Bucs (+14½), but take the points. Saints have failed to
cover 5 times this season, and with 14½ on the board, I say take the points.
- Niners over Lions (+12½). My stats say take the points, but the location
says otherwise.
- Zona over Rams (+14½), but take the points. Zona is crashing fast.
- Eagles over Broncos (+7½), but take the points. Couldn't decide on these
points, but went with them anyway because the underdogs seem to be winning
more than the favorites thusfar this season.
- Indy over Jets (+5½). Jet crash.
- Dallas over Cowboys (+7½), but take the points. Skins should rebound
from the Giant game to make a strong show against their arch enemy, but
still lose.
- Vikings over Bears (+7½). Bears are 1-8 as the dog against the spread.
This is a Monday game not to watch.
